Arthur Young Johnson

Mr. Arthur Young Johnson, age 87 of Elkton, passed away on Thursday, November 30^th at his home of natural causes.

He was born July 7, 1930 in Fairview, Kentucky the son of the late Abram and Maggie (Naylor) Johnson.

He served 32 years in the Armed Forces with 17 years in the US Army, 5 years in Active Reserve and 10 years in the National Guard.  He enlisted in the Army in December 1952 and retired in February 1977.  He served in the National Guard from 1979-1989.  He was also a police officer in Elkton from 1973-74 and in Central City from 1977-79.  He served in the Korean War, Dominican Civil War and 2 tours in Vietnam.  Some of his honors include: Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal w/Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal to name a few.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Sarah L. Johnson; one daughter Lisa Wasson; one brother Charles Johnson; four sisters Louise Wilson, Virginia Griggs, Mary Griggs, Irene Cain and one grandson Jonathan “Jon Paul” Wasson.

He is survived by one son Joey Johnson of Fairview; two daughters Carol Garza (Robert) of Clarksville and Teresa Cooper of Elkton; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation with the Johnson family will be on Tuesday, December 5^th from 12:00 until funeral service time at 2:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Eddie Cain officiating.  Interment will follow at the Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Elkton.
