George Dewayne Ford

May 1, 1957 ~ February 21, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old


George was the oldest son of the late Catherine Ford Swope. He attended Metropolitan Public Schools. He professed his love for Christ at an early age and expressed that love through singing with John Edmonds Gospel Truth, BM&E Conventional Choir, and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was licensed to pulpit ministry as a young adult, serving at Greater Life, under Elder V. Sweeting, elevated and ordained to Elder George D. Ford at Mt. Olive Christian Church, April 11, 1999, under Elder Kelvin L. Walker. George not only preached the Word, he loved studying the Word. He received a Bachelor of Divinity through Emmanuel Bible College and Liberty University.

 

George was a veteran, serving in the United Marine Corp and was a former officer with the Los Angles State Police Department. He enjoyed working with youth, at Heritage Hall, Boy Scouts and a lengthy career with Metropolitan Parks and Recreation.

Bro. George Ford became a member of Martin Luther King, Lodge #361 in 1996.

 

George was a loving son, father, big brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, dedicated his life to his family, and those close to him.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother, and nephews, Reginald Ford and Gary Jackson.

 

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory:

Wife/friend Wanda (Y-vet), HIS 4 girls-Antoniea Mahone (Toni His Right Hand) Nashville Tn., LaKendra Ford (His Big Girl) Atlanta, Ga., August Ford (Denise His Baby Girl), and Corina Bankhead (Lil Miss Cooo-rina) Jeffersonville, Fl. Four brothers: Johnny B.Ford (Gloria) Eliase Ford (Nina), Albert Bernard and  Darryl Ford; two sisters Carol Jackson, Sandra Ford Hannah(JD); aunts: Dorothy A. Zirker and Christine Ford, eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
