Mr. James Johnson, Jr., better known as Jr., age 65 of Guthrie, passed away Wednesday, January 17th at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville of natural causes.
He was born June 26, 1952 in Clarksville, Tennessee the son of the late Buddy and Beulah May (McNelly) Johnson. He was a member of the Tiny Town Baptist Church and the Guthrie Bethel Vesper Masonic Lodge #669 F&AM. He served 18 years as a police officer for the Guthrie Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Shirley Johnson. He is survived by three sons Shawn Clinard (Donna) of Elkton, Sherman Johnson (Tiffany) of Adams, Tennessee and Chad Johnson (Anita) of Guthrie; three daughters Penny Phillips (Matt), Charity Daily Johnson and Alicia Weatherford (Tyler) all of Guthrie; one brother Danny Johnson of Russellville; two sisters Debbie Sales of Elkton and Renee “Peaches” Bain of Clarksville; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation with the Johnson family will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 in the chapel of the Cook-Webb Funeral Home with Rev. Buck Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie. Masonic Rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
