Rev. Jesse J. Gann, age 90 of Clarksville and formerly of Guthrie, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville of natural causes.
He was born January 30, 1927 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the son of Hobert and Effie Lee Cartwright Gann. He served during World War II as a United States Marine. He was ordained in 1957 at First Baptist Church in Guthrie and his first calling to pastor was at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Clarksville. He pastored several churches over the years in Tennessee and Kentucky. He was also a founding member of First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem, where he was a member. He was an alumni of Belmont University in Nashville and Southern Seminary in Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Betty Jo Bradera Gann; one son Don Gann; three brothers Homer, Paul and Louis Gann and one sister Eunice Johnson. He is survived by one son David Gann of Clarksville and one daughter Beth Gann of Murfreesboro.
Visitation with the Gann family will be on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home in Guthrie and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 at the First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem in Clarksville. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday morning at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem in Clarksville with Dr. Jeff Burris officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.
