Mrs. Barbara “Monkey Lee” McNelly, age 82 of Guthrie, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at her home of natural causes.
She was born December 1, 1934 in Guthrie, Kentucky the daughter of the late Robert “Tabb” and Hazel Johnson Jordan.
Barbara was a member of Tiny Town Baptist Church. She was a host at Charlie’s Steakhouse for 33 years where she was known as “Monkey Lee”, the president and director for Guthrie Senior Citizens for 30 years and she ran a bread ministry. She loved her family, friends and the Guthrie community, where she was always willing to help and donate her time. She loved gardening, playing cards and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband James McNelly; two sons Richard McCullough and Eddie Gann; one daughter Rachelle Glenn; one sister Nancy Hester; her stepfather Henry “Pat” Patterson and one half-brother Henry Patterson, Jr.
She is survived by three daughters Mona Clary of Anderson, South Carolina, Bridgette Sapp and Nancy McNelly Bishop both of Guthrie; three half-brothers Joe Patterson of Clarksville, Rudolph and Oliver Patterson both of Florida; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with the McNelly family will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday at 2:00 in the Chapel of the Cook-Webb Funeral Home with Rev. Buck Tidwell and Bro. Scott Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.
