Levanora Allison was born June 26, 1939 and went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2019. She is the daughter of Mr. Clarence “Pete” and Mrs. Esther (Bellamy) Morton, who have both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by Gene A. Morton (brother), Eva E. Morton (sister), Gentry Allison (grandson), Jerry and Cleo Morton (grandparents), Earlington Bellamy (grandfather) and Nannie Sue Morrow (grandmother).
At a young age, Levanora joined Spillman Chapel CME Church in Allensville, KY and dedicated her life to Christ. There she served until she moved to Russellville, KY. Always a devout Christian, she became a member of First Baptist Church where she dutifully served until health concerns slowed her down. She strongly admired her pastor (Rev. Sammy Spencer Jr.) and frequently mentioned how great of a leader he is to the church. During her tenure she served on the kitchen committee and was a missionary president as well as a Sunday school teacher, van driver and superintendent. Additionally, she sung in both the mass and pastoral choir, served as an institute representative and served on the mother’s board.
Levanora attended and graduated from Todd County High School. She served as a seamstress at Red Kap for over 30 years before she retired. She also held the position as treasurer for the Concerned Citizens of Logan County for numerous years. For almost 20 years with that organization she spent numerous hours, time and money helping to fix and maintain the building and working with the youth and in the community. You could often find her singing, socializing, cleaning, entertaining friends and family as well as providing service for both her Russellville community and her church.
Those left to celebrate her life memories include her children Loyetta (Moses) Oatis, Victoria Allison Marshall, William (Leanne) Allison; two brothers Jerry W. (Henrietta) Morton and Clarence G. Morton Jr.; fifteen grandchildren Shawn Beard, Cajua Harding, Ian Marshall, Montranese (Jamelle) Vinson, Yeshi Oatis, Brian Marshall, Morgan Oatis, Destrey (Andrew) Clayton, Montavious Allison, Chloe Allison, Jaemarious Allison, Darius Allison, Tiffany Marshall, Cedric Oatis and Marquita Duffie; twenty-one great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
