Welcome to the memorial page for

Lyle "Pat" Patrick Linville

April 19, 1960 ~ October 7, 2017 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Lyle Patrick Linville, 57, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away of natural causes on Saturday evening with his son Loren by his side while cruising in the Caribbean aboard the Carnival Dream.

Known as “Pat” to his family and childhood friends and “Lyle” to most others, he was born in Martinsville, Indiana to Howard and Ruth (Jessee) Linville on April 19, 1960 and was raised in Indianapolis.

He attended Decatur Central High School and Ivy Tech, where he was editor of the school newspaper.  He passionately pursued diverse interests in art, design, printing and computers.  He began his professional career as a printer working in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the headquarters of the American Numismatics Association, an organization that had been central to family life during his early years.  Returning to his family in Indianapolis, he continued working as a printer in Fishers, Indiana before relocating to Southern Kentucky, a Linville Family ancestral home.  From there he worked as a consulting contributor and/or volunteer for several community and cultural organizations.  An early adopter of computer technology, he greatly enjoyed helping others (particularly senior citizens) understand and use this technology and he worked as a web consultant/designer for cultural organizations in New York City.  Despite significant physical challenges he also served as a volunteer firefighter for both the Sharon Grove and Clifty (KY) Fire Departments.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as others that he dearly loved, including his grandparents Lester and Leona (Wolfe) Linville of Indianapolis (and Scottsville, Kentucky) and Otto and Berneice Jessee of Indianapolis (and Russell County, Virginia); by his sister in law Wonda (Rickelman) Linville and by his dear childhood friend Loren Duncan.

In addition to his son Loren Linville and his grandsons Braxton and Luke, he is survived by a daughter Gretchen Linville; three brothers Howard (Elaine), Dennis (Diane) and Gary Linville; three sisters Lori Dawson (David “Jojo”), Debbie Clark and Marlene Linville (Rey).  Also surviving is a very large extended family, which includes many nieces, nephews (and their children) who dearly loved him.

Lyle Patrick Linville is renowned among family and friends for his kindness and good humor.  He will be truly missed.

Visitation with the Linville family will be on Saturday, October 14th from 11:00 until Memorial Service time at 2:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Rev. Kris Freeman officiating.
