Bettie Jean "Mammy" Wells

The Todd County Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mrs. Bettie Jean "Mammy" Wells.

Mrs. Bettie Jean "Mammy" Wells, age 82 of Elkton, passed away on Sunday, July 12th at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

Mrs. Wells was born December 15, 1943, in Christian County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Earnest and Agnes Arnold Hancock. 

She was a member of Providence Church in Elkton and was retired after twenty-seven years from the Todd County Board of Education where she worked as cafeteria manager at several schools in Todd County. She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and camping.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Wells; one brother, Bryant Hancock and one sister, Margaret Ament.  She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Billy Joe Wells of Elkton; two sons, Randy Wells of Bowling Green and Timothy Wells and his wife, Shannon of Elkton; one sister, Ruth Ann Dossett of Elkton; six grandchildren, Kristin, Derek, Damon, Emma, Evan and Michael and four great-grandchildren, Kinley, Dax, Ellie and Issac.

Visitation with the Wells family will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 10:00 until funeral service time at 2:00 at the Providence Church with Reverend Clayton Miller officiating. Interment to follow at the Providence Church Cemetery.
