Betty Estelle (Bellar) Smith

Cook-Webb Funeral Home of Guthrie, Kentucky is honored to have been called to serve the family of Betty Estelle (Bellar) Smith.

Betty Estelle (Bellar) Smith, 91, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on October 18, 2022, from natural causes.

Born in Guthrie, Kentucky, on January 6, 1931, she is preceded in death by a whole slew of family and friends but especially the state fair winning “Largest Family,” the Bellars, including parents, Thomas and Ethel Bellar, and nine brothers and sisters, Thomas, Ivie, Elvis, Johnny, Felix, Ruby, Lucille, and Louise. Also, by her late husband, Durell (Dude) Smith, and her infant son, Thomas. She’s survived by her children, Linda Sue, Brenda Kay, Durell Jr., and David Wayne as well as two loving daughters in law and a son in law. There is not enough ink or internet space to list all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as her church family, community friends, and the Arcadia Senior Living staff who loved her so well.

We invite everyone to help us celebrate this red lipstick wearing, Jesus loving, flower growing, bird loving, baking, card playing, country music loving, joy-filled woman on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM for visitation and 1:00 PM for the service at Guthrie United Methodist Church, Guthrie, Kentucky, the church where she was a member for 80 years. Meal to follow at Durell Jr.’s shop on Summer St. which is walking distance from the church. We ask attendees to wear your reddest lipstick and brightest colors (she loved red) and most sparkling attire to honor her and her love of bright colors and bling.

She was the heart and soul of our family, her church, and community.  May her laughter, love, and joy live on in us all.
