The Todd County Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Blanch Darden-Evans.

 

Blanch Darden-Evans was born April 7, 1946, in Guthrie, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Celia Darden. God called her home on January 3, 2023.

 

Blanch accepted Christ early and joined Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie, KY. She was educated and graduated from Todd County Training School. Upon graduation, she relocated to New York in 1964. She was a woman of faith and was an active member of the United House of Prayer for All People at the Mother House in New York City for many years until her recent passing.

 

Later in life, she met the love of her life, and after several years of courtship, she married Dale “Roland” Evans, and they spent over 30 years together until his death in January 2022. From their union, their blended family included daughters, Cathy Merriweather and Sharon Evans.

 

Blanch “Mother Love” was a devoted and inspirational mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She projected a warm, loving, and kindhearted personality. She was cheerful with a great sense of humor and deeply dedicated to her family, friends, and church.

 

Preceding her in death is her parents, Charles and Celia Darden; sisters, Alice Witherspoon, Sarah Branch, Carrie Moses, Ethel Moore, Mary Reid, and Maggie Freeman; brothers, Lee Raymond Darden, Charles Darden Jr., and Melvin Moody; brothers in law, Charles Hoosier, Billy Clardy Jr., Wille Norris Lloyd and Ernie Lloyd; sister-in-law, Sylvia Mebane; nephews, William Darden and Morris Evans Jr. and Godchild, Aprel Lloyd.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Cathy Merriweather (Oscar) of Indianapolis, IN and Sharon Evans of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Oscar Merriweather Jr. (Tiffany) and Jasmine Kumar (Manoj); one great-grandson, Denver Merriweather all of Indianapolis, IN; siblings, Martha Hoosier and Melba Clardy both of Guthrie, KY, Mary Glass of Memphis, TN, Veneda James of Alexandria, VA, Will Arthur Darden (Billie Joyce) of Kokomo, IN, Terry Lynn Darden of Garden City, KS, Hester Lloyd of Malvern, PA, Essie Lloyd of Bronx, NY, Mildred Russell of Salisbury, NC and Ernest Branch of Brooklyn, NY; brothers | sisters-in-law, Morris Evans of Mebane, NC, Bradford (Erma) Evans of Burlington, NC, Linda Evans Johnson (Stanley) of Haw River, NC and Geri Evans of Mebane, NC; Godchildren, Nikoe Anderson of Raleigh, NC, Carmel James of Alexandria, VA and Tanasia Lloyd of Malvern, PA. She has a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends that she loves and cherishes.

 

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, January 21st from 12:00 until funeral service time at 1:00 at Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Day officiating. Interment will follow at the Lester Chapel Cemetery in Guthrie.
