David S. Massie

David S. Massie, age 70 of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, June 12^th at his home of natural causes.

He was born April 4, 1949 in Fairview, Kentucky the son of the late John and Marie Powell Massie.

David was a graduate of Todd County Central High School and enlisted in the Marine Corp soon after graduation.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. David was a farmer, a certified mechanic and an electrical lineman for Pennyrile Electric at the Elkton office.  He loved fishing, Nascar racing, UK Wildcats and traveling with his wife Monica.  He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need and he took great pride in serving his country as a U.S. Marine.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two sisters Kathy Demo and Cecelia Shemwell and his very special “Granny” Eula Poe.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years Monica Biter Massie of Elkton; two sons Jonathan Massie of Bell Buckle, Tennessee and Shannon Massie of Maize, Kansas; a special nephew Dylan Harper and a special niece Shelby Harper both of the home; four grandchildren Anna Massie of Clarksville, Ashley, Alicia and Abby Massie all of Maize, Kansas; one brother Joey Massie of Elkton; three sisters Elizabeth Hamblin of Hopkinsville, Annette Elmore of Elkton and Brenda Massie of Bowling Green.

Visitation with the Massie family will be on Friday, June 21^st from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home.  Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, June 22^nd at 11:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Deason Jr. and Donald “Curley” Elmore officiating. Interment will follow at the Francis Cemetery in Allegre.
