The Cook-Webb Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mr. David A. Sanders.
Husband, father, son, brother, and ‘Pap’; David A. Sanders passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer since 2021.
David met his wife Judy in 1974 at Mallory Powder Products, and after a few dates he knew Judy was the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. After marrying in 1976, they welcomed their two daughters and built their home in Guthrie, where they lived for all 46 years of their marriage. David worked for the United States Postal Service from 1974 until his retirement in 2006. He kept busy as a retiree with drives through the countryside, mowing his grass, caring for his mother and neighbors, hunting for antiques, and finding the best deals on Fenton lamps. He took pride in everything he did and passed on the importance of hard work, tradition, and family. David inherited his love of UK basketball from his father, Harold, and his love of antiques from his mother, Loice. He never missed sending a birthday card and loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren; they were truly the light of his life.
David is preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Loice Sanders, his brother, Jerry Sanders, and nephew, Chris Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his two daughters, Andrea Kelley and Dianna (Jimmy) Boyd; four grandchildren, Campbell, Theodore, Merritt (Dianna) and Jillian (Andrea); his brother, Johnny (Thea) Sanders; his sisters, Carole (Ron) Bailey and Susan Pirkle; sisters-in-law, Betty (Greg) Jordan and Hope Moore; nephews, Jeff (Zelia) and Philip (Christy) Bailey, Josh and Robert (Jen) Jordan and nieces, Sara Pirkle, Roxanne (Gordon) Muir, Sarah (Scott) Burton, Amy (Andy) Jordan, Emilie and Riley Moore. He will be missed by numerous other family members, neighbors and friends.
Visitation with the Sanders family will be held at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home in Guthrie on Sunday, February 19th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday, February 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service scheduled to be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Cook-Webb Funeral Home with Brother Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Interment to follow at the Highland Cemetery.
