Donald Eugene Coleman, age 59 of Elkton, passed away on Tuesday, July 7th at Spring Mill Meadows Nursing Home in Indianapolis, Indiana of natural causes.
He was born November 11, 1960 in Christian County, Kentucky the son of the late John P. and Lela Grooms Coleman.
At an early age Donald professed a hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. After water baptism he joined the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Trenton, Kentucky where he became active in the ministries of the church. Donald’s love and passion was studying and discussing the word of God. He was a graduate of Todd County Central High School of the Class of 1978 and he attended Murray State University.
In April of 1982 Donald joined the U.S. Navy, and served aboard the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV62) as a Aviation Electrician’s Mate until September of 1985. Shortly after being discharged, Donald’s health begin to fail.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother David A. Coleman. He is survived by five brothers Floyd A. Coleman (Terri) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cortez A. Coleman (Rose) and Larry B. Coleman (Rae Vonne) both of Lexington, Kentucky, John P. Coleman Jr. (Teresa) of Port Smith, Virginia and Earl Ray Coleman of Clarksville, Tennessee and three sisters Edith M. Coleman of Hopkinsville, Gay D. Sydnor of Trenton and Lisa K. Ligon (Michael) of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Visitation with the Coleman family will be on Friday from 11:00 until funeral service time at 1:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Reverend Shalmon T. Radford officiating. Interment will follow at the Cave Springs Cemetery in Hopkinsville.
Due to the Coronavirus (Covid19) there will be limited capacity. It is required that if you attend the visitation or service that you wear a mask and refrain from shaking hands and hugging as well as social distancing and keeping six feet apart.
