Doyle "Daawaa" Knight Obituary

The Todd County Funeral Home & Cremation Service is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mr. Doyle Knight.

Mr. Doyle “Daawaa” Knight, age 89 of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, February 4th at his home.

Doyle was born on June 27, 1936 in Elkton, Kentucky son of the late Alvis Knight and Leola Scott Knight.

He was a veteran and honorably served in the US Army before embarking on a career as a truck driver, a profession from which he retired from after many years of dedicated service and was a member of Stokes Chapel Church, where he loved listening to the singing and playing of the church band, especially Shane on the drums. His love for music extended to an encyclopedic knowledge of musical artists from his time along with TV classics like Gunsmoke and local history. He was known to be a human GPS and could give you directions to anywhere. Saturday nights you would find him at the Clarksville Speedway, where he enjoyed watching races alongside his racing buddy, Don Oyler. Doyle had a passion for motorsports, particularly dirt track and drag car racing where he sponsored the Bardcor Bandit and K1 stock cars. Doyle “Daawaa” was the patriarch of his family which he deeply loved along with his many friends. He was lovingly known as “UNC” to his 31 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Latham-Knight in 2006; two brothers, Neal and Paul Knight and two sisters, Virginia Stokes and Evelyn Jenkins. He is survived by two daughters, Melinda Service (John) and Tammy Miller (David) both of Elkton; two grandchildren, John Riley Service and Hixie Jo Miller and a special cousin, Lucille Sweeney.
