Todd County Funeral Home of Elkton, Kentucky is honored to have been called to serve the family of Dr. Frank A. Manthey.
Dr. Frank A. Manthey, age 88 of Elkton, passed away on Sunday, August 28th at the Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee of natural causes.
He was born December 2, 1933 in New York the son of the late Frank A. J. Manthey and Josephine Roth Manthey.
Dr. Manthey was a veteran of the United States Airforce, he graduated from Syracuse University and Fordham University Medical School. He served his residency at Yale University and taught as a medical professor. He was the owner of Manthey Medical Clinic in Elkton from 1979 until 2010, and he attended Tiny Town Baptist Church. He loved the New York Giants, and he was a pilot and enjoyed flying.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Manthey and Randy Shackelford. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Doris J. Manthey of Elkton; a son, Peter Manthey (Terri) of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Susan Phillips of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Teresa Jean Williams (Steve) of Gallatin, Tennessee and Cheryl Denise Mullen (Scott) of Hopkinsville; a brother, Robert Manthey of Daytona Beach, Florida; two sisters, Janet Sullivan of New Windsor, New York and Ruth Curley of Winchester, Virginia; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 11:00 until funeral service time at 1:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Rev. Buck Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.
