Edith Jackson, age 87, of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of St. Augustine, Florida and Trenton, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 18th at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida of natural causes.
She was born February 28, 1932 in Trenton, Kentucky the daughter of the late Booker and Susie Smith Cager.
She was a retired farmer and was retired from the Todd County Extension Service.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, James Jackson; her son, Dr. James Jackson Jr, her daughter Dr. Susie Riley and two sisters Margaret Ann Toliver and Mary Lee Dickerson. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Todd (Larry) of St. Johns, Florida, Donna Bailey and Renee Moyd (Jonathan) both of Jacksonville, Florida; beloved surrogate daughter and caretaker, Veronique Gipson of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Dorothy Sue Burks-Terry of Marion, Indiana; a son-in-law, John Riley of Louisville, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Elda Jackson of Salvisa, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the Jackson family will be on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 at the West Side Church of Christ in Elkton. Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 at the West Side Church of Christ with Minister Doug Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Todd County Meadow Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edith’s name to Mount Dora Children’s Home, 301 W. 13th Ave, Mt. Dora, Florida 32757.
