Elizabeth “Liz” Burchet, age 92 of Guthrie, passed away on Thursday, June 10th at her home of natural causes.
She was born April 17, 1929 in Tywhopity, Kentucky the daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Sears Williams.
She was Baptist by faith. She spent over 65 years in the restaurant business as a successful waitress. She spent her younger years at The House of Como in Evansville, Indiana and the last 30 years at the Cracker Barrel in Clarksville, Tennessee and Moss’ in Guthrie. She loved people, spending time in her flower gardens and yard sales. She took great pride in making rag rugs and afghans. She was an excellent country cook. She kept herself busy and never passed on the opportunity to play cards or entertain family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George “Pat” Burchet; brothers, Harold Ray Williams, Donald Ray Williams and James Williams; sisters, Dorothy Jean Williams, Earlean Williams, Dorean Johnson and Anna Henderson as well as four grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Sodonia Sullivan of Hopkinsville, Michael Cain (Sharon) of Evansville, Indiana, Pamela Way of Evansville, Indiana, Heidi Willis (John) of Crane Hill, Alabama and Heath Cravens of Guthrie; a sister, Irene Williams of Elkton; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 4:00 until 6:00 and again on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Sunday at 2:00 in the Chapel of the Cook-Webb Funeral Home with Shane Hessey officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
Mask will be required as well as social distancing and no hugging or shaking hands.
