The Cook-Webb Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mr. James Lee Menees.
Mr. James Lee Menees, age 87 of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd at his home.
James was born March 6, 1938, in Clarksville, Tennessee son of the late Robert Lee Menees, Jr. and Katherine Kennedy Menees.
He was a lifelong farmer on the farm established by his grandfather in 1889 and was married to Laverne Gregory Menees for 57 years. James was a faithful follower of Jesus and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Clarksville. He also served on various county and state boards including, Montgomery County Farmers Co-Op, CEMC, Tennessee Soybean Promotion Board and the Soil Conservation Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Kennedy Menees and Rubye Menees Patch. He is survived by his wife, Laverne Gregory Menees; two sons, James Gregory Menees (Kristi) and Robert Lee Menees, III (Stacy); a daughter, Ellen Menees Smyth (Thomas) and eight grandchildren, Brittany Menees Henderson (Vonte), Robert Alen Menees (Keisha), Anne Smyth, Caleb Menees, Molly Schmidt, Emma Smyth, Racheal Menees and Owen Menees. Also surviving are three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home in Guthrie, Kentucky with Pastor Cal Hampton officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 9th from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.
