Martha Pogue Obituary

The Todd County Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mrs. Martha Pogue.

Martha Nadine Pogue (Garrett), 90, of Fairdale, Kentucky and formerly of Todd County, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born on September 21, 1934, in, Kentucky, Martha was a cherished member of her family and community. Her love for gardening was matched only by her joy in spending time with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. She was known for her generous spirit, often canning the fruits of her labor to share with those around her.

An outdoor enthusiast, Martha found happiness in fishing, camping, and tending to her beautiful flowers. Her talent as an expert quilter was remarkable; she crafted each piece by hand, never relying on a sewing machine, and her quilts were a testament to her skill and dedication.

Martha is preceded in death by her father, Charles Lee Garrett; mother, Maudie Pearl Garrett; husband, Rubin G. Pogue; son, David C. Dutschke; and siblings, Virgil, Verna, Alphie, Dovie, and Shelby. She is survived by her loving daughters, Bonnie N (C.L.) Key and Kathy E. Smith, along with her grandchildren: Elaine Garrett, Angie (Robert) Brooks, Christie (Cory) Wurtman, Regina (Joe) Hall, and Richard (Stacy) Smith; Great-Grandchildren, Andrew Garrett, Destiny Garrett, Joseph Vancleave, Jessica Vancleave, Alasia Griffith, Lukas Powell, A'laina Hall, Audrey Hall, Abigail Wurtman, William Brooks, Ryder Wurtman. Additionally, she was blessed with numerous great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, all of whom will cherish her memory forever.

Visitation with the Pogue family will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, from 11:00 to 2:00. A private family burial service at New Harmony - Bivins Cemetery.

In honor of Martha’s legacy, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
