Melvin Groves, age 82 of Olmstead, passed away on Tuesday, January 21st at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee of natural causes.
He was born January 5, 1938 in Cross Plains, Tennessee the ninth child of ten to the late Henry and Beulah Odom Groves.
He united in holy matrimony to Revella Bellamy and to this union of 60 years they had one son. He retired from Rockwell after 28 years and enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard and loved baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Revella Groves (2019); a son Randall Groves (1997); four brothers Erural, Manard, Ardell and Marvin Groves and three sisters Iola McClain, Elma Gilbert and Lorell Babb. He is survived by two brothers Cleo Groves (Louise) and James Groves (Paulette) both of Nashville, Tennessee; two brother in laws Anthony Bellamy of Indianapolis, Indiana and George Bellamy of Russellville; five sister in laws Rose Page of Springfield, Tennessee, Elnora Gaines of Russellville, Audrey Johnson of Venice, California, Mildred Hart of Los Angeles, California and Tanya Lane of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving is a devoted nephew Robert “Burger” Gaines, devoted cousin Dot Sydnor and devoted friend Ural “Humpy” McGuire.
Visitation with the Groves family will be on Saturday from 10:00 until funeral service time at 12:00 at the First Baptist Church, 221 South Spring Street, Russellville with Reverends Sammy Spencer Jr. and Delmus Johnson officiating.
