Patty Deason Obituary

Patty Dewberry Deason, age 91, of Clarksville, TN died peacefully on February 7th, 2022 and went home  to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

 

A lifetime resident of Montgomery County, TN, she was born January 4th, 1931 to Millard Sanford Dewberry and Jennie Louise Nelson Dewberry. She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Marvin Ray Morris, Sr. (1987) and their daughter, Elizabeth Jane Thompson (2006). Her brothers, Armon Thomas Dewberry, Julian Warren Dewberry and Jessie Carpenter. Her twin sisters, Birdie Carpenter Cunningham and Bertha Carpenter Thomas have gone on before her along with sister,  Shirley Dewberry Hartley.

 

She is survived by her brother, William Ross Dewberry (Janie) and her son, Marvin Ray Morris, Jr. (Helen). Patty is also survived by three granddaughters: Charity Alley Nuckolls (David), Audra Morris Langley (Jim), and Courtney Lea Robison (Andrew). She leaves behind five great-grandsons: David Tyler Nuckolls  (25), William Richard Nuckolls (17), Vincent Liam Robison (12), Erik Donovan Robison (10) and Harry Ellison Langley (3).

 

Patty was a 1949 graduate and Valedictorian of her class at Clarksville High School. She was a true homemaker and longtime member of the Clarksville Country Women’s Club, Kirkwood Homemakers Club and Trinity Episcopal Ladies’ Aid. She and Marvin reared their two children at home on their farm in  the Kirkwood Community. She loved making their clothes, sewing, keeping house and being a good friend and neighbor. After Jane and Ray were grown she began her career working for the Montgomery Country Clerks Office. For 28 years from 1978 to 2006, she truly loved her work, responsibilities and co- workers in the office. She was also a volunteer for years working Election Day for Montgomery County. In December 1980 she married her second husband, Richard Wallace Deason of Hopkinsville, KY. Together they resided in Clarksville, traveled, spent time at Lake Barkley boating and visiting with friends. They loved to play cards and Scrabble, she planned Sunday lunches and holiday meals at home  around the table with family. After thirty-three years of marriage, Wallace proceeded her in death in April 2013. She was affectionately called Nana by her family, a wonderful cook, church volunteer, wife and devoted Christian. She attended Guthrie Baptist Church and the ladies Nannie T. Cook Sunday School class.

 

The family invites you to come and celebrate her life here with a graveside service and burial on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Clarksville, TN. Pallbearers are Jim Henry Langley Jr., Dave Nuckolls, William Nuckolls, Tyler Nuckolls, Andrew Robison and Bert Covington Jr. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Guthrie Baptist Church: P.O. Box 447 Guthrie, KY 42234.

 

The family extends their sincere thanks to Dogwood Bend Assisted Living for their skilled and compassionate care for Patty where she was a resident for six years. Ty Woodson along with Patty’s nurses, Shelia Leverett, Phylicia Dowlen, Jamie Baysore, Amanda Herring, Paige Umstead, Christie Paeth, Nakita Steven and Tina Glover cared for her daily with their greatest love and patience.
