The Todd County Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mrs. Sandra Mauk.
Mrs. Sandra (MacGillivray) Mauk, age 85 of the Stringtown Community in Elkton, Kentucky, passed away on May 27, 2024, in her home of natural causes.
She was born May 14, 1939, in Bakersfield, California, daughter of the late John A. and Viola B. MacGillivray.
She was employed by Hacienda Hotel Bakersfield, North American Aviation, a homemaker and Coordinator for the Airedale Terrier Rescue Association (ATRA) where she served many years as an animal adoption activist.
Sandra was Queen and active member of the Vintage Roses of Elkton Red Hat Society. She loved crafts, quilting with her friends at the General Store, bowling, and reading. She was a Kentucky Colonel and also volunteered her time and talent for The United in Memory 9/11 Victims Memorial Quilt, at her children’s schools, a Band Booster, and the Airedale Terrier Rescue Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Mauk, parents, and two brothers, Allan MacGillivray and Keith MacGillivray. Sandra is survived by her two sons, Kelvin Mauk (Charlotte), of Ashland, Kentucky and Kenneth Mauk (Chad) of Houston, Texas; a sister, Rhonda Brady of Tehachapi, California; two grandchildren, Logan (Breanne) Mauk, and Levi Mauk; two step-grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and her beloved dog, Lilly.
She also leaves behind numerous extended family, chosen family, and close friends.
Visitation with the Mauk family will be on Sunday, June 2nd from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Todd County Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Monday, June 3rd, at 10:30 am in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Chaplain Claude Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
It was Sandra’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations in her name to the Airedale Terrier Rescue Association (www.aire-rescue.org (http://www.aire-rescue.org/).
