Sok Bin Maxwell

Sok Bin Maxwell, age 82 of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at her home only four months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Kanggye in what is now North Korea on March 15, 1937 the daughter of the late Kee Yup Chon and Bo Pae Moon.  She was one of the younger children in a family of 11.  She would often relay the story of how they made the long and often dangerous trek to South Korea during the communist occupation of North Korea.  Her life was a blessed one and she thanked God for saving her and her family members.

She loved gardening and could often be found in the early hours of the morning tending to her vegetables and flowers.  Cooking large meals for her family brought her tremendous pleasure. She loved logic games, canasta, and was nearly unbeatable at chess and Chinese checkers. Her pride in and love of her family was boundless. Her friends remember her as a good listener, patient and kind.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Clyde Warren Maxwell, of 55 years.  They met while he was in the army and stationed in Seoul, Korea.  During their marriage, they lived in many different places while raising 3 children. When Clyde retired from the work force, they settled in Clarksville, TN. They were rarely seen apart after he retired.

She will be sorely missed by her 3 children, Nancy Sebok of Eagleville, Pennsylvania, Robert A. Maxwell and wife Karen of Glasgow, Kentucky and William B. Maxwell and wife Lyn of Winchester, Kentucky; 2 older sisters, Suk Joo Kang and Ann Crays; 2 brothers, Sok H. Chon and Hwang Ku Chon; her grandchildren, Michael Sebok, Adam Maxwell, Ashley Sebok, Rebecca Maxwell, Preston Maxwell, Lynsey Maxwell, Kayla Maxwell, Adam Glover and wife Rachel and Jacob Glover and wife Azra; nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, January 16^th from 6:00 until 8:00 at Todd County Funeral Home, 720 W. Main St., Elkton, KY 42220. The funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Friday, January 17^th at 11:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Rev. Garrette Milliken officiating. Interment will follow at the Gant Cemetery in Sharon Grove, KY.
