Roberta Estelle Petty

Roberta Estelle Petty, age 98 of Nashville, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Bethany Healthcare.

She was born April 17, 1918 in Smith County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Isham and Georgia Beal Earps.  She was a charter member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville.  She had a deep love for her family.  She loved sewing, cooking and taking care of her family.  She loved to tell her testimony of being saved when she was a child at the Mace’s Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  She lived her testimony and shared it with no hesitation.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Clarence Petty; brothers Ray Allen Earps, C.D. Earps and Cordell Earps and sisters Louise Robinson and Wilma Dean Earps.  She is survived by one son Harold Petty (Linda) of Nashville; one daughter Lois Hessey of Elkton, Kentucky; four sisters Beatrice Petty of Nashville, Hilda Jean Williams of Smyrna, Frances Williams of Nashville and Alice Hubbard of Kentucky; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the Petty family will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 5208 Nolensville Road, Nashville.  Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at the church with Elder Neal Forshee and Shane Hessey officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
